Unboxing the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and First Impressions
The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is indeed making several noises in the smartphone realm, and for a good reason. With an impressive price, excellent features, and sleek design, this may be one of the best budget-friendly smartphones coming in 2024. In this post, we are going to take you through the unboxing and first impressions of the device-looking at its design and build quality, among other aspects-and setting it up for the first time.
Unboxing the Redmi Note 11 Pro+
Packaging
The first thing to notice is the premium packaging of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+: a strong and solid box from Xiaomi. Once you lift up the top lid, it's the phone itself you are greeted with, nicely secured with a protective plastic covering. Sleek, minimalist, and setting the trend for the rest of this experience.
Along with the phone, the box contains:
- Fast charging adapter (67W)
- USB Type-C cable
- SIM ejector tool
- User manual and warranty card
- Soft silicone case for extra protection
It's no surprise that Xiaomi includes a 67W fast charger in the box, considering just how fast the phone is capable of charging. If there's one key highlight of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, this would be it.
The Phone
The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ surprisingly feels like a premium phone in your hands, thanks to the glass back and metal frame. It has a slightly curved edge, which makes it comfortable to hold. The glossy back panel reflects light nicely, with the laser-etched Redmi logo adding a subtle touch of elegance. The color options are pretty catchy; our review unit came in Misty Blue, which has a nice mix of subtlety and flair.
The camera module on the back appears sleek, housing a 108MP primary sensor along with ultra-wide and macro lenses. Its design doesn't feel unduly bulky, and for a phone measuring a manageably thin 8.3mm, it isn't that heavy either. Contrary to some of the competition in this price segment, it's actually lightweight enough to be carried easily.
Initial Setup and Performance
Display and UI
The very moment it is powered on, the display catches your eye: a 6.67-inch AMOLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen is well-saturated, with great color accuracy and sharpness, which makes watching videos, playing games, or just browsing through apps a treat. The hole-punch camera at the top-center is not intrusive, and in general, the display has that premium feel to it.
Setting up the device was quick and smooth. The MIUI 14 software, based on Android 13, offers a clean and intuitive user interface. It's responsive, with minimal bloatware. The device runs smoothly through the initial setup, and we’ve already noticed how fast the fingerprint sensor works—unlocking the phone with just a quick touch.
Performance
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset provides a solid performance, handling everyday tasks with ease. While not the most powerful chip out there, this phone is highly capable for day-to-day use. Gaming is a breeze, too: Call of Duty and PUBG Mobile ran smoothly at medium to high settings. Depending on the variant you get, it either comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM to help with multitasking and make sure things run smoothly even when you have many apps open in the background.
Build Quality and Design
For the price, the build quality of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is quite excellent. The glass back is both aesthetically pleasing and durable, though it might attract fingerprints, so a case is recommended. The aluminum frame offers a nice contrast, giving the phone a premium, solid feel.
On the front, the AMOLED screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which gives it extra strength. The phone feels balanced when held, and the **buttons-volume rocker and power button-are well reachable with a nice tactile feel when clicked.
Ports and Connectivity
The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ has all the necessary ports and options for connectivity, including:
USB Type-C port (charging and data transfer)
- 3.5mm headphone jack - pretty rare in most of the flagships these days
- IR blaster to control your appliances such as TVs and ACs
- Dual SIM slots supporting 5G
The addition of 5G support is good future-proofing given that 5G networks are expanding across the world. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 for a range of connectivity options.
First Impressions
The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ does impress, really, for its sleek design, smooth display, and solid performance. For sure, it's near flagship at prices well below most rivals in its class. Featured is the 67W fast charging, charging it to 50% in just 15 minutes-a very suitable gadget for on-the-go users.
Whether you're a casual user, gamer, or just in the hunt for a good workhorse for daily usage, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ manages its game well and promises great exposure.
So far, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ looks like an instant victor. A superb AMOLED screen, excellent performance, and premium aesthetics make this a commendable option for budget-sensitive consumers who are unwilling to compromise on a lot. We will update you again once we are done testing it in more depth with regard to performance over the long term, but so far, it appears to be one of the best units in its segment.
